Privacy policy

Last updated: 27 October 2026 · Applies to OutVQ version 1.0.1

This policy explains what personal data the OutVQ app and this website use, why, and what rights you have under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We have tried to keep it plain.

1. Who we are

The data controller is Michael Royle, of 47 Maes y llan, Dwygyfylchi, Conwy, Wales, United Kingdom, LL34 6RY. You can contact me at mail@outvq.com.

Voice recordings are not kept. They are deleted as soon as they have been transcribed, and we do not store the recording or the text on our server. We do not keep server logs of our own. Our hosting provider may keep standard network logs under its own policies.

4. Permissions the app requests

You can withdraw any permission at any time in your Android settings. The related feature will then stop working.

5. Who we share data with

We use the following service providers (processors) to run the app. They only act on our instructions, except where they are separately responsible for their own services.

We may also disclose data where the law requires it. We do not sell your data or share it for advertising.

6. Transfers outside the UK

Our providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the ICO’s International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum, so that your data keeps an equivalent level of protection.

7. How long we keep data

Data on your device stays there until you delete it, clear the app’s storage or uninstall OutVQ. Nothing is kept on our server beyond the moment needed to answer your request, as set out in section 3. Website analytics data is kept in Google Analytics for the retention period set in our account, and the analytics cookies expire after at most two years unless you remove them sooner.

8. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us to:

Email mail@outvq.com. We will reply within one month. Because we hold no account, we may need a little information to find your data, and much of it exists only on your device where you can already delete it.

9. Complaints

Please contact me first so we can put things right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint or on 0303 123 1113.

10. Children

OutVQ is not aimed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has sent us data, contact us and we will delete it.

11. Cookies and analytics on this website

This website uses cookies for one purpose only: Google Analytics, which helps us understand how the site is used. It sets no other cookies of its own and has no advertising or marketing cookies.

We ask first. When you first visit, a banner asks whether to allow analytics cookies. Google Analytics is not loaded, and no analytics cookies are set, unless you choose Accept. If you choose No thanks, or ignore the banner, it stays off.

CookieSet byPurposeLasts
_gaGoogle AnalyticsTells one visitor from another so visits can be countedUp to 2 years
_ga_E2PTGW2DEDGoogle AnalyticsKeeps track of a visit (session) on this websiteUp to 2 years

If you accept, Google receives information such as your IP address, the pages you view, your browser and device type, and your approximate location, and provides us with aggregated reports. Google acts as our processor for this, and it may process the data outside the UK (see section 6). Our lawful basis is your consent. We do not use the data to identify you, and we do not use it for advertising.

Changing your mind. Choose “Cookie settings” in the footer of any page at any time to accept or decline. Declining deletes the analytics cookies this website has set. Withdrawing consent does not affect earlier processing. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

Separately, this website loads fonts from Google Fonts, which means your IP address is sent to Google when the page loads, whatever you choose in the banner.

12. Security

Data sent between the app and our server travels over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Data on your device is protected by your device’s own security, so please keep your device locked and updated.

13. Changes to this policy

If we change how the app uses your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. For material changes we will also tell you in the app.
